The Gaztelueta Baccalaureate students' simulated company fair held last week was a success. This project, which requires students to design a company with all its facets, is the spearhead of the Social Sciences Baccalaureate.
First, the students have to develop a business idea. In other words, they have to think about what product they are going to offer. The Gaztelueta groups came up with diverse, original and creative ideas: containers with lockers where surfers can leave their belongings while they bathe, boxing gloves that prevent sweat damage to the hands, ecological sweatshirts, a gym where the machines can be used to exercise and generate energy at the same time... These were just some of the business ideas.
But the process was not just about coming up with an innovative idea. To carry it out, students had to complete a market study, see what similar products are on offer, study the competition and analyse the profile of potential consumers of the product in question. All these variables of their project were presented by each team in front of a jury. In addition, each group set up a stand in the STEAM classroom, located in the central pavilion of Gaztelueta.
Over the course of two days, students from all classes and teachers visited the classroom to learn about and evaluate the different projects. At the end, three prizes were awarded to the three best groups. The prizes were decided by the jury and the public. It is worth mentioning the participation of other schools. The Munabe school took part with an interesting project that aims to help local businesses. The school Arangoya also added several stands to the fair: an application for hiring private tutors, a virtual fitting room for buying clothes online, a wireless iPhone charger... Among them, the Digital Closet project stood out. This business consists of a social network about clothes. Each user would take photos of their clothes and other users would be able to give them advice on combinations..
Digital Closet was the winning project of Azoka 22. But, in reality, all the participants have won, as they have gained invaluable experience.
