On Sunday 13th October the II Greenpower Race took place on the San Mamés esplanade. Fifteen teams made up of secondary school students took part in the F24 category.
From early in the morning the teams set up their tents to make the final adjustments to the electric cars they have built during the course. During the training sessions some technical problems arose but they had time to fix them before the race started. The San Mamés esplanade was turned into a street circuit and passers-by had the opportunity to watch the young students race.
The Madre de Dios school team put on an impressive race and achieved a well-deserved victory with a car built to the millimetre. Gaztelueta took second place thanks to a sustainable driving style that meant they reached the finish line without running out of batteries.
The Greenpower Gaztelueta competition team is made up of 10 secondary school students who work two hours a week on improving their electric racing car. The challenge they have set themselves for this season is to build a new, lighter car in order to be able to take part in the international final in October.
To this end, they are looking for companies and institutions to sponsor them and make this exciting project a reality. Companies or individuals who want to collaborate can write an email to [email protected]
