Although at school the protocol is working and we can continue to teach and learn, it is necessary to remember that COVID19 has not disappeared. The situation remains complicated and the disease continues to wreak havoc on society, endangering the lives of many and affecting society as a whole.
For this reason, we at the school believe it is appropriate to have the testimonies of people who have lived through the disease so that we do not lower our guard and continue to care for each other to the best of our ability.
First we were visited by Pablo, 32 years old, who was admitted to the ICU for 7 days and spent a total of 19 days in hospital. He told the children how he became infected at a meal at his parents' house, having taken the appropriate safety measures. He also told them about the loneliness he suffered during his stay there, and the fear he felt at not being able to be near his wife and young daughter. Pablo encouraged the children to continue to take care of safety rules on a daily basis, both inside and outside the school, and congratulated them on their good work so far.
On the other hand, a group of medical students from the UPV/EHU visited the 4th and 6th grades of Primary School, and reminded them how they can continue to set an example in frequent hand washing, the correct use of masks and the maintenance of the bubble groups on which the protocol has been structured since the start of the school year in September.
It is planned to organise more similar sessions in Secondary and Baccalaureate in the coming days, seeing its good awareness-raising effects.
