For the first time ever, a team of Basque schoolchildren will take part in the international grand final on the UK circuitThe event will take place at the well-known race track of the world's most famous race track. The world organisation Greenpower Inspiring Engineers based in the UK - which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year - has invited the Biscayan school's team to take part in the 2019 international grand final.
Students work in teams to develop STEAM (Science, mathematics, engineering, arts and mathematics) skills by building an eco-friendly electric car and competing in a race in which the winner is not the fastest but the one who drives in an energy-efficient and sustainable way. In other words, whoever drives the most kilometres without running out of battery power.
In addition, the students must seek the necessary sponsors and resources to bring their project to fruition, working on communication and sales skills, as well as drawing up a business plan, which they have to prepare and explain to the sponsors, and defend in English.
