Pupils in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Primary will soon begin the implementation of an interesting educational project focusing on cultural diversityThe aim is to deepen the knowledge of different cultures, from Bizkaia to the world.
In the development of the project, the teaching staff of the Poli will already encourage skills from an International Baccalaureate mindset emerging at Gaztelueta: enquiry, critical thinking, communication and collaboration, open-mindedness and transdisciplinarity.
This project, which celebrates diversity in our lower primary school pupils, offers a series of benefits for both our students and their teachers.
Promoting intercultural understanding: Exposing students to different cultures from an early age fosters understanding and acceptance of diversity. This helps to reduce prejudice and promotes empathy towards people from different backgrounds.
Development of language skills: By exploring the diversity of countries, students have the opportunity to learn about different languages and cultures, which can foster interest in learning new languages and improve language skills.
Promotion of critical thinking: By comparing and contrasting different cultures and ways of life, students develop critical thinking skills by analysing and reflecting on the similarities and differences between them.
Preparing for the globalised world: We live in an increasingly interconnected and globalised world. Exposing students to cultural diversity from an early age provides them with the necessary tools to be competent global citizens and to better understand the complexity of the world we live in.
Promoting respect and inclusion: By celebrating the diversity of countries, it promotes respect and inclusion of all people, regardless of their ethnic, cultural or religious background. This helps to create a more inclusive and respectful school environment.
Stimulation of creativity: By exploring different cultures, students can be inspired by new ideas, perspectives and forms of artistic expression, which stimulates their creativity and helps them to think outside the box.
The implementation of the project Knowing the World in the Poliwill therefore be fundamental in preparing our students to live in a diverse and globalised world, fostering intercultural understanding, respect, inclusion and critical thinking.
