Educational innovation

STEAM Education

We are committed to STEAM education, as a means to reach the personal development of each individual, seeing innovation with the perspective of the uniqueness of each student. In 2020, The Department of Education of the Basque Government has recognised Gaztelueta with the STEAM Euskad seal.i, rewarding the best practices among more than 100 schools. The robotics project developed in the infant stage has also been awarded by Siena Education with the V Prize of the Revista Escuela Infantil Magazine, recognising the project to work on analytical skills and logical-mathematical thinking through STEAM competences and robotics.

Cooperative work

Collaborative learning is taken into account in all the projects and is worked on in a cross-cutting manner from the second cycle of infant education onwards.

Project-based learning

At Gaztelueta we are committed to a methodology based on projects and workshops which helps students to be the true protagonists of their own learning and which in turn favours learning by competencies.

Arts and Humanities

At Gaztelueta we also highlight the relevance and importance of the arts and humanities, which are fundamental for good personal development and are also of great support for scientific development. Theatre, painting, music and the use of libraries to encourage a taste for reading are of great help. From an early age, we work on different projects to develop the aesthetic and creative capacity of the pupils through the plastic arts department.

Workshops

Bearing in mind that at the infant stage, we are in a period of a key moment in which pupils are building the foundations of the personality on which their future learning will be based. Our project facilitates a good personal development through a methodology based on workshop work.
Our workshops encourage the acquisition of learning through the progressive acquisition of autonomy and basic social habits. The different workshops are carried out in the vehicular languages mentioned (English, Basque and Spanish) and are adapted according to the age of the pupils.

Logic-Mathematics Workshop

We work on mathematical reasoning through the "Active Mathematics" project. The children experience mathematics, discovering basic concepts through play, experimentation and manipulative work. We seek to develop logical thinking by making pupils aware of what they learn and how they learn it. The first step is always to awaken their curiosity and wonder.

Programming and Robotics Workshop

Emotional workshop

We educate from emotions by talking about different real or hypothetical situations with which students are familiar at home or in the classroom.

Speaking Corner

Jolly Phonics

A fun and engaging complete literacy method in which children learn to use the basic alphabetic code to begin reading and writing in English. This methodology, endorsed by the British Ministry of Education, is the official methodology in the United Kingdom for learning English as a first language.

Reading and writing workshop

We have a creative reading and writing programme aimed at the neurological development of children from 3 to 6 years of age.
