This Monday the 4th grade students of Gaztelueta have met with the Mayor of Leioa Iban Rodríguezto share their impressions of pedestrian mobility on their way to school in the Bizibideak project. This meeting, part of a municipal initiative to encourage walking among students, was an opportunity for our students to express their views on the strengths, risks and possible solutions to walking to school.
The Bizibideak project, which seeks to promote a sustainable and healthy mobilityThe event, with the active participation of our pupils, highlighted the benefits of walking to school, including improved physical and mental health, contact with nature and reduced pollution. However, our pupils also pointed out some of the risks they face on their journey, such as the dangers posed by cars that do not respect speed limits or pedestrian crossings near schools. The Mayor thanked the children for their suggestions and pledged to work on improving road safety around schools.
The meeting ended with thanks from our students and Gaztelueta for receiving us and a commitment on the part of the mayor of our municipality to continue listening to young people in the search for solutions for a safer and more sustainable Leioa.
