In November, a group of 3rd year Secondary students went to Punta Begoña to participate in training activities in connection with the next edition of the First Lego League.
This year's FLL challenge is called City Shaper (City Modeller), and the visit focused specifically on geological aspects of building construction and rehabilitation.
With the idea that students would gain some knowledge of the notions about different processes that can ultimately improve life in cities. The group first visited the main hall and then descended to the lower hall to observe and study the beams supporting the galleries above the cliff, as well as the masonry wall with infill on which the building was built.
There they also saw the weather station, the sensor that measures the amount of water in the ground up to a depth of 25 metres, as well as the different types of ornamental stones that were used and from where they were obtained.
Last school year the school team worked hard to to compete in an edition held in Vitoria under the title of Into Orbit, It turned out to be a fantastic experience for the group.
The 11th edition in the Basque Country will be held on 8 February 2020 and will bring together hundreds of students from different schools in the three Basque provinces.
