Aritz Sevilla Samaniego is a teacher of Primary Education with specialisations in Therapeutic Pedagogy and Mentor of the Basque Government's Digitalisation Plan. Since his arrival at Gaztelueta, he has been a teacher in Primary Education in the subjects of GizarteBasque and Physical Education.
His training in digital tools, as a Digitalisation Mentor for the Basque Government, allows him to transform the way he teaches and his students learn, integrating innovative programmes that promote active and participatory learning. Aritz has set out to adapt traditional methodologies to the needs of the 21st century, using digital tools that not only facilitate learning, but also motivate students to get involved in their own educational process.
In the current educational context, digitalisation has become a key tool to encourage motivation and learning in our students, a clear example of which is the creation of the educational resource designed by Aritz himself using AI, Triad of Heroes.
Triad of Heroes is a game designed to actively involve children in their learning process. The idea came from observing how digital games attract the attention of young children. This game combines educational elements with interactive adventures, allowing students to become the heroes of their own story while learning about different subjects. Using AI, Primary 2 and 3 students customise their characters, choose quests based on their interests and skills, and collaborate with their peers to solve challenges. This not only stimulates creativity, but also promotes teamwork and problem solving. The implementation of AI in the Hero Triad allows each student to have a unique learning experience. The AI adapts quests and challenges according to individual progress, ensuring that each student feels challenged, creating an inclusive learning environment where everyone can progress at their own pace.
A look at the history of AI and its educational applications
Aritz himself has created, from his training and experience in the development of digital tools, an interesting handbook with educational applications of AI titled Generation AI. The rise of artificial intelligence: from the first models to its impact on education. A book that proposes to narrate the development of AI, from its earliest models to today's most advanced applications, with a particular focus on how this technology is revolutionising the field of education. Throughout its pages, it explores the historical milestones, technical advances and practical applications of AI, highlighting its ability to personalise learning, and make education more inclusive and accessible.
In addition to their digital training and expertise in the application of educational innovation in the day-to-day classroom of the PoliAritz Sevilla puts another of his great passions, physical activity, at the service of Gaztelueta. Founding member of the association Parkour Bilbao and president of the association Euskal ParkourEvery day, Aritz strives to integrate physical activity into the educational process at Gaztelueta, giving it the value that sport has in the education of our students, which has been one of the identifying elements of Gaztelueta since its foundation in 1951.
Through the subject of Physical Education and as a coach at the Gaztelueta Sports Club's Sports School, Aritz teaches all his students to practice sports in the Gaztelueta facilitiesHe is convinced of the value of sport in his overall education: ".Physical activity not only promotes physical health and well-being, but also strengthens social, emotional and cognitive skills.
