On 18 May, the University of the Basque Country presented the prizes for the 2018 Basque Science Olympiads. Gastón García and Jaime Aja, who came second and third in Chemistry and Physics respectively, collected their prizes. Jaime also received an honourable mention in the national phase.
The event was held in the Aula Magna of the UPV/EHU and was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology. This year a total of 200 students from a total of 50 secondary schools in the Basque Country took part. The schools and teachers were also awarded prizes for being part of the successes achieved by the students. Gaztelueta was the second most awarded school in the Basque Country.
