Secondary 2 pupils, who from this year have a weekly hour dedicated to the subject of Public Speaking, held the final of the class debate competition in February.

The central theme of the team discussions was the issue of the Privacy, security and freedom' and the influence of one on the other. Through such activities and projects, Secondary school pupils learn and consolidate the skills of critical and argumentative capacityThey develop the skills to reflect on the issues raised and, furthermore, to defend positions with which they may disagree, learning to grow in understanding of other points of view.

The subject that pupils have enjoyed so much for years in the second cycle of primary school has been extended to the second cycle of ESO for the first time this year. Through different tests but under the same premises, pupils train weekly to improve through longer projects, such as presenting and presenting countries of the world or historical figures, creating video games in groups and explaining them to their classmates, as happened in confinement, or learning to debate on current issues.

However, it should not be forgotten that this skill is worked on from Infant Education, where the Book of the protagonist is a recurrent exercise in which children begin to experience what it is like to speak in front of other people, learning to successfully face the natural obstacles that arise. In this way, the children continue to work on this language skill, which is key to their future, and to give the necessary continuity to what they have learnt over the years as they gain in maturity.
