In the face of the crisis and the situation imposed by the coronavirusOn 12 March was the last school day of the term. The Basque Government made official what we feared: no school in Bizkaia would open its doors to pupils from the following day.

Although it is clear that the treatment cannot continue to be as close as we would like, there are sufficient means through which we have managed to make up for this shortcoming in a consistent manner. Gaztelueta has implemented a strategy to be close to all families and pupils, from Pre-school to Baccalaureate. And the effort that teachers, families and students are making together is bearing a lot of fruit.

Each week, guided by the school's Board of Directors, the stage coordinators lead their educational teams to discuss the day-to-day running of the school and plan the next steps to be taken. At these meetings, the impressions of each teacher and suggestions for improvement from the families are also shared. On Fridays, a letter is sent to families to inform them of the timetable and work for the following week.

The ways we are using to keep the educational structure alive during these weeks are precepting via video call, live classes with the tool Hangouts Meet or taped materials available to students, and regular calls to homes, in addition to the use of the virtual platform which was already common in courses from secondary school onwards and which has been extended to primary education. There, every week, the different tasks and projects that complement the online classes are updated. As a novelty, many teachers are also generating materials (explanations of concepts, tutorials, projectsamong others), which, in audiovisual format, can be accessed on the YouTube channel of the College.

In this way we are striving to to be as close as possible to families and pupilsThe school has an important capacity to adapt in order to keep up with the learning pace of our students, which is none other than assisting families in the education of their children
