A teacher at Gaztelueta since 1979, he dedicates his free time to cycling, handicrafts and botany. Today we meet Ramón Pomar under the mast.
What has been the best thing about your time at Gaztelueta? The friendly relationship I have had with many pupils, parents and teachers. The atmosphere at the school, for me, is a joy.
What is your favourite saying? A former teacher, Ildefonso, told me a true story that ended with the saying... "Whoever gives a gift sells well, if the receiver understands it". It helps me to discover and be grateful for the many good things we receive from others,
A historical figure... When I was 14 years old I had the opportunity to meet Saint Josemaría. As I had never met him before, I went to the get-together without realising the importance of the event I was about to experience: typical of an adolescent. Even so, I was very impressed by the joy and happiness that was so contagious.
Are you preparing a publication? In recent years I have been researching the fort that was built in 1874, in the course of the third Carlist war, where the chalet now stands. It had moats, a drawbridge, cannons... I find it an exciting subject. I think there will be a book.
With whom would you watch a sunset under the mast? With someone who would like to relive his or her years at Gaztelueta.
