Some thirty students from the 1st Cycle of Vocational Training in Early Childhood Education at the Arangoya Centre in Bilbao visit us to learn about robotics and the programming language for children.
After learning about the STEAM Classroom and the refurbished Centr Pavilion facilitiesat began the first workshop, which was led by Fernando Monteroa secondary school teacher. Attendees learned about the manipulative nature of robotics, the different robots that can be used in the infant stage and the advantages and differences with other educational stages. The tools that they incorporate for their use were also presented, and above all, the customisation that allows their use for teaching. Fernado Montero finally emphasised the importance of being creative and adapting the materials to the needs of each student. After the presentation, they solved some programming challenges in small groups and were able to see how some robots built by Gaztelueta students work.
Later on, the moved to the pre-school building, where Gaztelueta's Basque teacher, Begoña SalazarThe presentation showed them how since 2017 the use of the Bee Bots in pre-school classrooms and how these tools can be related and used in any subject.
To conclude, 3rd year Infant pupils carried out a practical demonstration in Basque and English with Bee Bots future teachers by working on the alphabet and mathematical operations.
