A few weeks ago, a group of students from the 2nd year of Bachillerato embarked on a trip to a very different and special destination: the Holy Land. Alfonso Fernández, student of the course, tells us about his experience.

"On Friday 27th January, a group of 15 Secondary School students, accompanied by two teachers and a priest from the school, embarked on a very different and special trip to the Holy Land. We had the privilege of visiting the holy places marked in the Bible and we set foot on the same land that Jesus Christ walked on more than two thousand years ago.

It was a very complete trip in which we did not stop to see some truly spectacular sites. Starting in Nazareth, where the Annunciation to Mary took place and where Jesus spent most of his life, and ending in Jerusalem where Christ lived his passion, death and resurrection. We also pass through places like Bethlehem, the Dead Sea, the Sea of Galilee, Cana, the Mount of the Beatitudes (my favourite visit, personally)... Places of enormous spiritual, historical and cultural value.

The trip was a very enriching experience for all of us. Not only did we visit the holy places, but we were also able to observe the coexistence between the three religions living in Israel, which was very impressive for us. Thanks to the willingness of the whole group, there was no lack of laughter and a good atmosphere at any time during the week.

To defray the costs of the trip, since November we have organised various activities, such as a raffle for a Christmas hamper and a small bar on Saturday mornings to offer coffee and chocolates during the football, basketball and handball matches. We would like to thank all those who have helped us with the raffle and the mini bar.

I would also like to thank, and I think my fellow travellers will agree, the dedication and affection shown especially by our professors Pedro Blázquez and Joseba Goirigolzarri in this new initiative".

An unforgettable experience as a souvenir of his final year in the @gaztelueta_college
