At 165 metres high, 41 floors and 50,000 square metres, the Iberdrola Tower is the tallest building in Bilbao. Designed by the Argentinian architect César Pelli, it is a major milestone in the transformation process of the city of Bilbao, and the main axis of its new financial centre.
On 3 November, the IDP students were welcomed to the emblematic building. Elena Lázaro, director of the Tower, accompanied the young students on their tour, explaining the details of the building. It included a session in which she herself explained the history of the building, the details of the construction process and its current occupation: with 2000 users, 50 companies based in the Tower and more than 200 events per year, it is a work of art of tertiary architecture, and a benchmark for its design, technology and sustainability.
