Primary Education Project

Our project seeks the development of all competences to favour the integral personalised education of our students.
Come and meet us
At this vital stage of primary school, Gaztelueta offers its own project with a multilingual programme, with activities that complement those of the curriculum, aimed at the acquisition of skills and content in the 3 languages of the school (in addition to French, which is offered as an optional extracurricular subject) as well as the development of our pupils in all dimensions.

With a safe environment and a well-trained, friendly teaching staff who know the importance of emotional management and motivation as key factors in the acquisition of different types of learning.

Through the so-called "Quiet Courtyards", students are offered the possibility of having other alternatives such as board games, spaces for drawing, reading, etc., in addition to playing during the breaks established at midday.

The primary stage runs from the age of 6 to 11 years and encompasses three cycles:

First cycle: 1st, 2nd year of primary school
Second cycle: 3rd and 4th year of primary school.
Third cycle: 5th and 6th grade of primary school.

Personalised attention

The Personalised attention is a fundamental pillar in the whole educational process. From the beginning, each family is assigned a tutor/preceptor who will accompany them throughout the course for whatever they need. Three personal interviews with the family are planned throughout the course.
In addition, our reinforcement planThe small working groups, conversation assistants and tutoring, as well as the continuous training of teachers, allow us to individualise the needs of each pupil and get the best out of each one in a family-school teamwork that is key.
The Psychopedagogical Guidance Department (D.O.P.)integrated in our school, aims to prevent, detect and monitor learning problems. It also has a specific programme designed for students with high abilities.

Educational project

We are aware of the importance of this stage in the consolidation of reading, writing, numeracy and calculation skills, and in the beginning of the development of others, such as spontaneous writing, oral expression and problem solving. These academic objectives are worked on while respecting the pace, needs and possibilities of each pupil, and without neglecting such important dimensions as sociability and teamwork, autonomy, responsibility and emotional intelligence. In addition, the authorisation of the International BaccalaureateThe programme in which all our teachers are being trained.
At this stage we continue to attach great importance to the competence work which are necessary for the future of the pupils. The development of Linguistic Communication Competence is carried out, among other activities and initiatives, with: a special reading plan for each course, with the subject of Writer's Workshop to promote spontaneous writing and with a public speaking programme to reinforce oral expression from an early age, both in Spanish, with the subject of Public Speakingas well as in English and Basque.
Christian values and identity The service to others is very present in the school, through small gestures that are worked on every day, both in terms of pupils helping each other and in different solidarity campaigns in which both families and pupils do their bit. Caring for the environment and respect for nature through the school garden and other recycling activities are also part of the primary stage.
